BGT 2012: Opera Duo Jonathan & Charlotte

I've watched this 2012 Britain's Got Talent clip over 20 times in the past 3 hours and each time I burst into tears. I can't tell you what I find more beautiful, their voices or their friendship. The song: "The Prayer" originally sung by Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli, is such a perfect fit for them. I applaud their vocal teacher for having the foresight to pair them together on it.

I know some people will say Simon Cowell is being overcritical of Charlotte here but, if you pay close attention to his facial expression — the way he narrows his eyes as Jonathan answers the criticism — you can tell Simon is testing them both. When Charlotte nods in agreement it signals she is willing to step aside if it means holding Jonathan back. She's not there for herself as much as she's there for him. She knows this will make a huge difference in his life and she wants her friend to shine, with or without her. Jonathan refusing to go on alone proves he has integrity and a good heart. This display of true friendship endears them both to the world and that could mean the difference between winning and losing this competition.

Simon wasn't being harsh, he was giving them a gift. He just helped turn two underdogs into Britain's Sweethearts.

I still can't get over how phenomenal Jonathan's voice is... The boy is a genuine prodigy! 17 years old and he already sounds like Luciano Pavarotti! Can you just imagine what he'll sound like when he's 30 and has several world tours under his belt?

A quick search on Google just informed me that his full name is Jonathan Antoine. Remember that name, folks! You will be hearing it a lot in the years to come!

Lucky Lotto Number 3!!!

Our previous lotto win = $50!

WOOHOO! WE WON THE LOTTERY AGAIN!!!!!! :) :) That's right! We decided to challenge Fate to another crap shoot and won $500 this time!!!!! (Last time we won $50!) How awesome is that?!

Actually we won twice! It all started with a Scratch-Off [read: Instant Game] Mom purchased that lead to a free ticket and that in turn won us the $500! The money couldn't have come at a better time too considering one of us still needs to pay off the IRS after unexpectedly owing $200 in taxes this year. That leaves us with $300, which is just enough to get the car fixed. Again.

Funny thing is, I picked the winning scratch-off ticket over the phone based on an old Debbie Gibson song from the early 90's. At least I thought it was Deborah Gibson... I swear I remember seeing her dressed kinda sexy all in black and gold and thinking she was finally trying to shed her Good Girl image. Turns out it was actually The Cover Girls all along. Which is really weird for me because I can't imagine how I ever got the two mixed up. (Then again this all took place before my car crash in '96... Amazing what a TBI will do to your memories!)

Anyway, we celebrated our #WINNING ticket last night with chicken and mushroom cheesesteaks, my favorite Good's potato chips, and a bottle of A&W Cream Soda.

@CharlieSheen is right! It's good to be a WINNER! :)

Special thanks to God and the Universe for coming through when we needed it most!

XOXO

Poetry: With My Living Heart...

"Black Panther" by Lisanne Termoshuizen

There is a panther caged within my breast,
But what his name, there is no breast shall know
Save mine, nor what it is that drives him so,
Backward and forward, in relentless quest—
That silent rage, baffled but unsuppressed,
The soft pad of the stealthy feet that go
Over my body's prison to and fro,
Trying the walls forever without rest.

All day I feed him with my living heart,
But when the night puts forth her dreams and stars,
The inexorable frenzy re-awakes:
His wrath is hurled upon the trembling bars,
The eternal passion stretches me apart,
And I lie silent— but my body shakes.

—John Hall Wheelock, "The Black Panther"

The Boob Tube: AHHHH!!! #DELENA!!!!!!! FINALLY!! He IS the best thing for her! #TVD #VampireDiaries

“It’s not just that she makes him a better person, and she does – but he changes her too. Damon challenges her, surprises her, he makes her question her life, beliefs. Stefan is different. His love is pure. He’ll always be good for her. Damon is either the best thing for her, or the worst.”

SITE UPDATES: New Tumblr Theme!

I updated my Tumblr today. The old theme was too big and bulky so I decided to streamline it. I really love the results now! Check it out http://miaunleashed.tumblr.com.

Sometimes simpler IS better! ;)

Star Rawrs: The Force is with you, Harry Potter!

Squee! Darth Vader from Star Wars reading J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! *Geekgasm* I could not love this more if I tried to! ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!! ♥

Q&A: What book could you write?

I'm actually writing several novels, all introductions to potential series. The one I'm focused on most at the moment is a Young Adult Dark Urban Fantasy trilogy about a regular girl named Penny who finds out she's a Faery Princess — and, of course, there's a twist! I refer to it as DE for now but I have a feeling you'll all love the title as much as I do when it's finally revealed. :)

Now it's YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: Rock, Paper or Scissors?

No, Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock!! :)

Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons spock, spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitate lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves spock, spock vaporises rock and, as always, rock crushes scissors...

God, I ♥ The Big Bang Theory! LONG LIVE SHELDON COOPER!!! RAWR! LMAO

Now it's YOUR turn! Go on: Ask me anything!

Q&A: Are you afraid of heights?

Yes but I think I’m more afraid of FALLING… Falling scares the bejesus out of me! :-/ Meep! *Shivers* Every time I fall I usually hit my head or hurt myself in some way. I really should invest in a Bubblewrap Suit…

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: Do you believe in aliens?

Believe it or not, I actually saw a UFO when I was little so yes... I do believe in them. And no, my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. I know exactly what I say that day. I was standing way too close not to get a good look at it. (It definitely wasn't the Goodyear blimp I can tell you that much!) Besides, I think it's very arrogant of us to assume we're the only intelligent life in the entire Universe.

Now it's YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: What do you like to do on rainy days?

Read or write… or a combination of the two. Coffee and a Snuggie are usually involved too.

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: What one thing are you exceptionally bad at?

Lying. My face always gives me away. I think I do it on purpose too cause I feel so guilty, even when it’s a tiny white lie. I’ve been told before that I’m too honest sometimes and most people don’t know how to take that.

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: How do you like your eggs cooked for breakfast?

I like ‘em dippy! Over-easy with lots of sausage or bacon please! :)

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: What could you teach?

I’ve taught voice and martial arts. Not necessarily at the same time.

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: Are you well organized?

Ha! I wish! I’m trying to get better organized now. My place is stuck in that perpetual state of “almost clean” (the floor is clear but the chairs have heaping piles of junk on them) and I really need to do something about it soon. If for no other reason than to rescue my pretty pink moonchair from limbo!

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: What's the view from your bedroom window?

A graveyard. I know it sounds kinda morbid and macabre but I love it! I find it very soothing and inspiring, especially when I write.

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: How many places have you lived?

I think maybe 8 or 9? We moved around a lot when I was a kid.

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: Who has made the biggest difference in your life so far?

My Mom. She’s my hero.

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: Do you believe in angels?

Absolutely. My guardian angel has saved my life on numerous occasions. I also believe that anybody can be someone else’s angel for the day. All it takes is an encouraging smile, a kind word, and a good deed.

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: What was your favorite movie as a child?

Willow. I was fascinated with Warwick Davis and I thought Madmartigan was hot. lol

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: Can you keep a secret?

Suuuuuuuuuuure… How much you gonna pay me? :)

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Q&A: Do you have a good singing voice?

I’m a professional Neo-Soul singer so I would hope so, yes! lol I usually do covers of like Adele, Amy Winehouse, Christina Aguilera, Joss Stone, Kelly Clarkson, and Mariah Carey songs if that helps.

Now it’s YOUR turn! Go on! Ask me anything!

Inspirational: Queen of Hearts

I absolutely adore this! It's a good reminder of how strong and fierce women can be. After all, it is the lioness that hunts and provides, the tigress that protects her cubs, and the black pantheress that will defend her mate with her life if she has to. Never underestimate the ferocity and determination of a female, especially when it comes down to protecting those she loves. ♥

Deep Thoughts: Family Ties

This is probably one of the most accurate, truthful graphics I've ever seen. I myself have beloved family members that aren't biologically related to me whose presence in my life is ever more special due to the fact that we chose each other. Sisters by choice, not by blood. Sometimes that's an even stronger bond.

OMG! *Geekgasm* I just saw this over on Geekologie and swooned! Check it! Hot Topic is selling Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Snuggies for $28 each! HOW FRIGGIN' AWESOME IS THAT?!

Adorkable! I call dibs on the Michelangelo one! (You know cause M could stand for Miangela instead...or something like that.) This is so going right at the top of my Christmas wish list!

Hmm... I wonder if they make a Splinter robe too?! :D

Craving Corey Haim...

Corey Haim as Sam Emerson in The Lost Boys
God, I miss Corey Haim! I still can't believe he's gone...

I remember when I first saw him in the 1986 film Lucas as the nerdy, bug obsessed, hopelessly lovestruck Lucas Bly. I was only eight or nine years old at the time, and Corey was a hearty fourteen, but I vowed then and there that I would grow up, marry him, and make him deliriously punch drunk happy one day.

I figured I would probably have to beat the other girls off of him with a wiffleball bat but decided Corey wouldn't mind once he got a chance to know me. (I mean I am, after all, pretty darn adorable myself! *Cheesy grin*) Besides, he was worth it.

Feldman & Haim
(Two Coreys)
Everyone knew Corey Haim was best friends with Corey Feldman and therefore you referred to them as the Two Coreys whenever you had the chance. Haim was the heartbreaker and Feldman usually played the goofy but lovable sidekick. They were a cornerstone of my childhood and I adored them.

Some of my favorite 80's flicks featured the Two Coreys: The Lost Boys, License to Drive, and Dream a Little Dream. (Feldman himself starred in two of the most memorable movies of all time: Gremlins and The Goonies!)

Musicmania: Nirvana - The Man That Sold the World

My writing inspiration for the day... A little Nirvana in an otherwise insane world. (God, 10 years later and Kurt Cobain still manages to take my breath away... It's a shame to think about what happened of him.)

Most young people don't realize that this song is originally from legendary style icon and pop chameleon David Bowie. Bowie wrote and performed it on his 1970 album by the same title.

Needless to say, I am a H-U-G-E fan of both. Their music has helped me shape the words I write and explore the various fantasy worlds inside my mind. Here's hoping listening to this today sparks another scene for DE! :)

Learning the Lottery...

Person playing the Lotto using the Lucky Numbers from a Fortune Cookie...
I WON THE LOTTERY!!! Yep, Miss Mia challenged Fate to a crap shoot and rolled herself a winning hand! Granted, it wasn't a huge jackpot win (it was actually only $50 total) but it was still a win! :)

You see my Mom and I have a tradition, it started years ago when she bought me a scratch-off card for my birthday. (I don't even remember which game it was now.) I think I won maybe $5 that year, which basically covered the price of the ticket, but it was fun and made us both smile so she did it again for my next birthday...and then again every year since.

Well, this year we decided to try something new and buy a ticket where you actually pick numbers for one of the weekly drawings. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing when we walked into the local Giant grocery store that day or which lotto games to actually play; although we eventually settled on Cash 5, Match 6, Mega Millions, and the infamous Powerball. The Customer Service clerk was very patient and helpful as she explained how to fill out the grids on the play slips as well as which boxes to check in order to double our potential winnings.

We walked out of there with a total of 6 chances to win — a cost of $10 total — and a delicious grilled veggie focaccia to celebrate with.

Mad Hatter (Sebastian Stan)
in Once Upon A Time
The hardest part of playing the lotto is waiting. I am not a particularly patient person so 6 games stretched out over a period of 5 days drove me madder than the Hatter. Then there's the games where you lose so completely you don't even guess one number. That sucks too.

But WINNING, when it actually happens, feels great!! Especially when it's part of the Mega Millions jackpot! :)

The only problem is, now I want to play again...and again...and again! (I can definitely see how people develop Lotto Addictions. It's really no different than gambling at a casino in Atlantic City.) Thanks a lot, PA State Lottery!

WRITING WAFFLES: Yay! The Prologue for DE is DONE!

Whew! Finally! After months of writer's block that resulted in more than a few handfuls of hair being yanked out of my head and countless Red Bull fueled late nights — culminating in an epiphany or two in regards to caffeine and story structure — the Prologue for DE is DONE! 7 pages total, all hard fought and even harder won! Can I get a w00t w00t?! *Happy dance*

Now it's time to grab a venti Iced Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks, take a victory lap around the community pool, and get started on outlining Chapters 6 and 7! (Chapters 1-5 are already done. Yes, I write bass ackwards so sue me!)

Some famous INFPs... Dreamers just like me!

I decided to do a little more research on my personality type and I must admit to being completely starstruck! The list of my fellow INFPs is a veritable Who's Who of some of the greatest artists, entertainers, writers and personalities of our time!

Famous INFPs include: A.A. Milne (author of Winnie the Pooh), Amy Tan (bestselling author of The Joy Luck Club), Andy Warhol (artist), Audrey Hepburn (50's Hollywood movie siren), Björk (singer-songerwiter), Dick Clark (TV/radio), Fiona Apple (singer-songwriter), Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood), Heath Ledger (actor), Harper Lee (author of To Kill a Mockingbird), Jacquelyn Kennedy Onassis (First Lady of the United States), James Taylor (60's musical icon who sang the song "Fire & Rain"), Jim Morrison (lead singer of The Doors), John Lennon (singer-songwriter), Julia Roberts (Hollywood actress and America's Sweetheart), Kurt Cobain (lead singer of Nirvana), Peter Jackson (director), Scott Bakula (actor who starred in Quantum Leap and Star Trek: Enterprise), Tori Amos (singer-songwriter), Vincent van Gogh (artist)

My personal favorites are filmmaker Tim Burton and actor Johnny Depp, both of whom I absolutely adore! Then there's C.S. Lewis (author of The Chronicles of Narnia), Edgar Allen Poe (poet and author), J.R.R. Tolkien (author of The Lord of the Rings), J.K. Rowlingand William Shakespeare

Yes, that's right! The author of the Harry Potter series is an INFP! (Even Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson, who plays Cedric Diggory in the HP films, is an INFP!) And who doesn't adore at least one of Big Willy's legendary plays? I myself have been in love with Romeo & Juliet since I was six years old.

Another INFP that I greatly admired was Princess Diana, a truly beautiful soul who touched the hearts of countless generations with her grace, kindness, beauty, fashion sense, and various humanitarian efforts.

Oh, and according to this site two of my favorite fictional characters are also INFPs: E.T. and Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation! Which makes perfect sense considering I still own my original 1988 VHS copy of E.T. and have been a Wil Wheaton fangirl since I was thirteen.

It just goes to show you — you are not alone! You never know where you're going to fit in or with whom!

Looks like I've finally found my niche! Now it's time to click my ruby slippers together, spread my faery wings...and FLY!

Love Lots,
Miss Mia

It's Official... I'm a DREAMER! :)

Well, technically I'm an INFP Idealist Healer! At least, that's what this super accurate Jungian/Myer-Briggs personality test says... And, let me tell you, this thing has me down to a fine art! Mind = officially blown!

"INFPs never seem to lose their sense of wonder. One might say they see life through rose-colored glasses..." Bingo! My wonderment started with unicorns when I was a little girl. I believed wholeheartedly in these beautiful, elegant, pure beasts. I would sit on a woodpile near my house waiting for a unicorn to come and lay it's head on my lap while pretending the butterflies dancing around me were actually faeries (the dragonflies were pixies). I haven't looked back since.

"INFPs have the ability to see good in almost anyone or anything. Even for the most unlovable..." Yep! This also pretty much explains why I dated most of my ex-boyfriends... Hahaha! ;)

"INFPs never seem to lose their sense of wonder. One might say they see life through rose-colored glasses. It's as though they live at the edge of a looking-glass world where mundane objects come to life, where flora and fauna take on near-human qualities..." This is so true about me! (I even own a pair of rose-colored sunglasses!) I also absolutely adore the Alice in Wonderland reference since it's one of my all time favorite childhood stories.

"INFP children often exhibit this in a Calvin and Hobbes fashion, switching from reality to fantasy and back again. With few exceptions, it is the NF child who readily develops imaginary playmates and whose stuffed animals come to life like The Velveteen Rabbit..." True again! One of my most beloved films as a child was Harvey starring James Stewart. I also had an imaginary sister when I was young and was pretty much obsessed with the thought of my stuffed animals coming to life while I slept and having tea parties without me. My ALF hand puppet scared the bejesus out of me. I'd actually lock him in my toy chest at night. Didn't trust the way he stared at me with those beady little eyes. *Shivers* Damn thing still gives me the heebie jeebies when I look at it...

"INFPs struggle with the issue of their own ethical perfection, e.g., perfo rmance of duty for the greater cause. An INFP friend describes the inner conflict as not good versus bad, but on a grand scale, Good vs. Evil. Luke Skywalker in Star Wars depicts this conflict in his struggle between the two sides of "The Force." Although the dark side must be reckoned with, the INFP believes that good ultimately triumphs..." Yoda Almighty! They referenced Star Wars! Yes! I AM LUKE SKYWALKER!!! ::Geekgasm:: XD :D

"Highly creative, artistic and spiritual, they can produce wonderful works of art, music and literature. INFPs are natural artists. They will find great satisfaction if they encourage and develop their artistic abilities. That doesn't mean that an INFP has to be a famous writer or painter in order to be content. Simply the act of "creating" will be a fulfilling source of renewal and refreshment to the INFP. An INFP should allow himself or herself some artistic outlet, because it will add enrichment and positive energy to their life." This is the section that really hit home with me. I've had a natural inclination toward the arts (specifically drawing, graphic design, music, acting, and writing) since I was born. I've never felt like I belonged anywhere else and I certainly can't imagine wanting to do anything else with my life. Now I know why! It's in my very nature!

"INFPs are highly intuitive about people. They rely heavily on their intuitions to guide them, and use their discoveries to constantly search for value in life. They are on a continuous mission to find the truth and meaning underlying things. Every encounter and every piece of knowledge gained gets sifted through the INFP's value system, and is evaluated to see if it has any potential to help the INFP define or refine their own path in life." Again very true! I consider myself a Universal Unitarian and subscribe to the Greek concept of gnosis ("knowledge") i.e. searching for my own spiritual truth. I also have an eerily accurate intuition that has gotten me out of potential trouble more than once.

Wow... I'm actually choked up right now. To be vindicated after all these years of feeling misunderstood... But the world needs healers like me! It needs creative people — artists and musicians and writers — to teach the world to dream!

SITE UPDATES: New Layout / URL Redirection Fixed!

Good news, my lovelies! You can now access MiaUNLEASHED! via miaunleashed.com AND www.miaunleashed.com!

There was a hiccup with the naked domain (the one without the www in front of it) that was causing a 404 Not Found error page. I had to whiteout the A Host and CNAME DNS entries and correct them manually.

Thanks everyone for your support and patience!

I've also spiffed up the site Layout a bit, added a second sidebar to make things easier to navigate, and included brand new Social Media share buttons! Now you can share my posts with your friends on Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Twitter!

I hope you enjoy these new improvements as much as I do! :)

Can You Handle Me At My Worst? ;)

Haha This is soooooo true! Holla! ♥

Ready? Set? PIN ME!!!

That's right! MiaUNLEASHED! has officially joined the Pinterest community now and I must say it feels good!

You know for the longest time I had no urge to pin anything... except maybe Ryan Gosling and Ian Somerhalder. (Preferably at the same time. Heh.) I mean I'm already on Facebook, Instagr.am, Tumblr and Twitter! Exactly how many Social Networks does a gal need?!

But then I stumbled across an article online explaining how easy and fun Pinterest is so I decided to give it another whirl. BIG MISTAKE! I just looked at the clock on my cellie and my mouth dropped open: I can't believe I spent the last 3 hours pinning! (I feel like I just cheated on Tumblr! Sheesh!)

In the infamous words of the Godfather of Soul James Brown: "FEEVAH! Mmm baby, I've got the feevah!" And the only prescription is more Pinterest!

J.K. Rowling's New Book - The Casual Vacancy!

That's right, Potterheads! The moment we've all been waiting for is finally here! After months of breathless anticipation and speculation, the details of J.K. Rowling's new adult fiction book have finally arrived!

And I must admit to being slightly disappointed after reading the overall synopsis...
Little, Brown announces details of J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults.
When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.
Seemingly an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.
Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.
And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?
Blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising, The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults.
Publication date 27th September 2012 (UK & US)
More information: www.littlebrown.co.uk, US website www.hachettebookgroup.com
*Sadface* Um, yeah... not really my cup of tea! But I thought I'd post it for the rest of you who haven't had the chance to read the deets yet!

Personally, I'm still holding out for the official Harry Potter Encyclopedia!

My Ongoing Love Affair with Meatloaf...

I ♥ Meatloaf! And no, I'm not talking about the tubby metal rockstar by the same name who would do "anything for love." Although he's pretty nifty too.

I mean THIS type of meatloaf...

Om nom nommz!
Yep, that's right! I'm a loafer! Dare I say, a Meatloaf Connoisseur? No, seriously...

My love affair with meatloaf started when I was a little girl. My Mom made the best meatloaf every Thursday. She got the recipe from my Grandma who would also make meatloaf when we visited.

Since then I've had just about every kind of meatloaf you could possibly imagine: hamburger/chicken/turkey/pork/venison; baked, smoked, and fried like scrapple (another fave dish of mine!); plain or with sauteed veggies inside; topped with ketchup, gravy, BBQ sauce, and even Teriyaki sauce! It's just so versatile! There really is no wrong way to eat it.

Le Turkey Meatloaf Sandwich by moi!
Then of course there's the Meatloaf Sandwich, which just so happens to be one of my all time favorite delicacies!

Let me tell you, there's nothing quite like a nice thick slice of meatloaf served cold on a potato roll for lunch! Yum! BEST. LEFTOVERS. EVAR!!!

Honestly, I'm stumped as to why Burger King's meatloaf sandwich failed so badly in the 90's... I mean how can you go wrong with Bob Uecker from Mr. Belvedere as your spokesperson?! For shame, BK! For shame!

Anyway, enough of me mooning over meatloaf! It's time to eat! Hahaha ;)

Love Lots,
Miss Mia
