WRITING WAFFLES: Reorganizing The Playbook

Damn, I'm beat... I stayed up half the night reorganizing the last four chapters of my YA fantasy novel DE — and, believe you me, that's a helluva lot harder than it sounds!

You see, I thought I only had one chapter left to write before I take my "mini-mental vacation" from this project but then, after rereading what I've written so far, I realized there is a gap in events between Chapter 11 & 12 that really needs to be addressed. The blip may be small but it's noticeable enough to raise all kinds of niggling little continuity questions down the road.

So what's a gawjus aspiring author goddess like me to do? Add another chapter between 11 & 12, thus pushing 12 & 13 over. Now the New Chapter is Chapter 12, Chapter 12 is Chapter 13, and Chapter 13 is Chapter 14... Giving me the chance to bridge the gap between Chapter 11 & 13 (previously Chapter 12) with important information from the New Chapter (now Chapter 12).

Whew! That was intense! I feel like an American football coach trying to figure out which players to use and which plays to run before the big game! And we haven't even made it to the playoffs yet let alone the Superbowl! lol

Now I've got two chapters to write (Chapter 12 & 14) instead of one. And then I'm taking a week off before my brain fries!

XOXO
